Many students start an essay out of a place of fear and confusion, but it is one of those things in life that you simply cannot escape. It seems like there is an essay to write around every corner of a student’s life. It does not stop after you leave school, so it seems like a skill one has to learn as early as possible. After school, you would need to write a personal statement and perhaps your job requires you to do the same. There is no reason to dread essay writing and it could be as easy as 5 steps.
- Start with a plan
Without a plan, you are going to be writing a lot of confusing sentences that do not make any sense when you link it together. Decide on the topic you want to write on and set out a clear guideline of how you are going to cover this topic. It does not matter is you are doing essay writing Ireland or the USA. The rules for writing an effective essay stays the same. Once you have the outline of what you need to cover, you can go over to the next step.
- Effective researching
Just because you do not know much about a topic, does not mean you do not have to cover it. If you are passionate about something, there are so many great research methods available to us, that you can become an expert on just about anything. Do not think of yourself as ignorant, but rather as an open vessel waiting to be filled with a river of knowledge. GO in depth when you do in order for you to cover the topic effectively. I once had to write an Irish essay and I was terrified, but I realized that if I divide it into chunks, it is less overwhelming.
- Start writing
There is no escaping actually starting the essay. Now that you have your plan and your information, it is time to start working on your essay. Your plan should include a few steps, so you simply start with step number 1. Do not look to far ahead because you will overwhelm yourself.
- Proofread
A first draft is never a good piece of writing, unless you are some prodigy. The rest of us will have a ton of mistakes in our writing that is easily identifiable with just one simple proofread session. You can also rope in your friends and ask them to read your essay, because a fresh eye can always pick up a few more errors. This can be general errors like typos or grammar issues. Proofreading Ireland was a challenge for me so I just asked a college from Ireland.
- Edit and submit
Once you edit your essay, it is time to submit. Do not doubt yourself past this point because it is fruitless. You did what you needed to do and put in all the hard work. Many people like to do a post-mortem on their work after it has been submitted, but that just causes more frustration. It’s done and now it is time to take a few sessions of relaxation. The results will always come if you put in the hard work.
